Mont Fallère and its hut

An exceptional panorama and an exceptional hut, all in the unique atmosphere of the Aosta Valley!

3D Nature Vallotton_Fallere.jpg

Lying between the Italian valleys of the Great St Bernard and Aosta, Mont Fallère offers an exceptional 360° panorama of the Mont Blanc massif, the 4000-metre peaks of Valais and the Gran Paradiso. It is reached by a steep but very well maintained and secured alpine trail. On day one we set off from Vétan to the crest above the Vertosan valley, crossing Punta Oillietta and Punta Leysser, then the Col Palettaz and the Mont Fallère hut. Around the hut you can admire some of the 350 wooden wildlife sculptures by the hut keeper, the artist Siro Vierin. Day two is devoted to climbing Mont Fallère on the path along the south ridge. From the summit we continue along the crest, then join a good descent path that drops through the scree of a small valley and takes us back to the hut, then to Vétan, with Siro's sculptures dotted along the trail all the way.
