PIERREDAR : CHALLENGES OF A mountaIN hut

In addition to finding yourself in an exceptional alpine setting, you will learn how a mountain hut must adapt quickly to climate challenges (safety of access trails, water management) and sustainability (energy, transport, catering and waste, management).. Once arrived at Pierredar, you will be served an excellent cold meal by our friendly, volunteering hut keepers who take turns every week! Who knows, you might want to become one of them?

THE COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE OF TREES

It has been recently discovered that trees, our lifelong companions, have unsuspected qualities that make them champions of survival and collaboration between species. Could their operating model inspire humans ? During this hike, which is intended to be both fun and informative, we will observe some amazing examples of trees' genious strategies. After that, you won't see our forest giants the same way again!

The choice of place names is not the result of chance. This hike in Les Ormonts will give you the opportunity to visit some of them and to understand on the spot the origin of these names so often encountered, with supporting stories and legends. Let yourself be surprised by patois words, traces of Celtic and Latin roots to see the Ormonts valley with a new eye. In collaboration with the Ormonts Museum and its exhibition "Where are you?".

This hike takes you to the site of the fratricidal battle fought in 1798 by the Franco-Lémanic troops of Bonaparte, and the Ormonans who remained loyal to the Bernese. You will visit, among other things, the bucolic site of Tréchadèze, witness to these tragic events, and hear the story that Ramuz did in his "War in the High Country". Then the hike will continue towards the Col de la Croix before returning to Les Diablerets.

The architecture of multicentennial chaletsres des Ormonts reveals the ingenuity of the ancestors who built the valley. This walk between farms, family houses and mountain chalets will offer you, beyond an immersion in the mountain built heritage, to apprehend the life of yesteryear in the region of Les Diablerets, with its constraints but also its simple pleasures. .
